SUPERNATURAL EVANGELISM

INTRODUCTION

In a general sense evangelism is about reaching the LOST and bringing them in contact with God’s power to save them. Supernatural Evangelism (SE) however, is not totally about sinners. It is more about the FATHER. But it is also about YOU.

So many of us are terrified about the conception of evangelism – Jehovah Witness style – perhaps because of our temperaments, but majorly because we FEAR we might not have the right words to convince them, or we FEAR the shame and pain of rejection.

SE removes evangelism from the trappings of Methodism into an adventure. It makes evangelism fun. It makes it a lifestyle altogether by creating a totally new paradigm for seeing and interpreting the concept of evangelism. SE is about learning to live a naturally supernatural Kingdom lifestyle, in which miracles, healing, the prophetic and setting people free are normal occurrences, as we release the presence and power of God’s kingdom to the people we know and meet everyday.

ABOUT GOD

It is about giving The Father opportunity to express His love to His estranged children by demonstrating His goodness and kindness to them.

Rom. 3:4

4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Tit. 3: 3-5

3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...

SE changes the way you ‘SEE’ the lost and brings you into fellowship with God in His treasure hunting adventure.

ABOUT THE UNSAVED

It presents opportunity for them to experience God’s touch, care and heart so they can respond to Him. Paul says in  1 Cor 2:4-5 ,

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

WHAT IS SUPERNATURAL EVANGELISM?

It is bringing the supernatural into what we call evangelism. It is utilizing the gifts of prophecy, healing and revelation (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discernment of spirit). It sometimes begins in the way in which we are supernaturally led to the children to how we bring God to them.

Examples:  Ananias, Acts 9:11; Philip Acts 8: 26

TREASURE HUNTING

Kevin Dedmon of Bethel Church in Redding, California, has pioneered a brand of SE called Treasure Hunting.  Treasure Hunting creates a nu paradigm for evangelism because it redefines our roles in evangelism. It helps us see ourselves as treasure hunters; it helps us see the sinner as lost treasure that God is looking for, and when we are able to let them see that they are God’s treasure that He is searching for THROUGH US, it makes the process of evangelism something else altogether.

I am intrigued about Treasure Hunting because it utilizing God’s primary model for initiating towards man. Jesus popularly utilizes this style likewise.

The Model

Foreknow:   Ordain:  Call:  Justify:  Glorify

Rom 8:29-30

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

In our case ‘foreknow’ and ordain are the same process. We foreknow their ordination.

Prophecy CALLS people into the prophetic potential God has designed for their lives, showing that god has planned something better, revealing thereby, God’s heart of love.

Conclusion

Jesus, in utilizing this model seems to say to the sinner, “I know you” and then “God cares for you.”

Ex: The woman of Samaria, Nathaniel, Zacheaus, Paul, to the prostitute He says ‘daughter...’

I encourage you to go all out and believe God to use you in this dimensions. The world is waiting to experience more of the supernatural.

Prayer for revelation of Jesus’ beauty that we might walk in our calling and destiny by God’s power
17 That the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of

Pray to receive the Spirit’s power that Jesus’ Presence be manifest in us so we experience God’s love

through faith; THAT you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend

Prayer for God’s love to abound in us by the knowledge of God resulting in righteousness in our life
9 That your love may abound still more and more in knowledge (of God) and all discernment, 10 that you
may approve (rejoice in) the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere (no compromise) and
without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness… (Phil. 1:9-11)


Prayer to know God’s will, to be fruitful in ministry and strengthened by intimacy with God
9 That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10
that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and
increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power,
for all patience and longsuffering with joy… (Col. 1:9-11)


Prayer for unity in the church and to be filled with supernatural joy, peace and hope (confidence)
5 May the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another…6 that you
may with one mind and one mouth glorify the…Father…13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 15:5-6, 13)


To be enriched by all the gifts of the Spirit including powerful preaching and prophetic revelation
5 That you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance (anointed preaching/singing) and all
knowledge (prophetic revelation), 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you (by miracles),
7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of…Jesus Christ, 8 who will also
confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 1:5-8)


For the release of grace to bring the Church to maturity especially to abound in love and holiness
10 Praying exceedingly that… (God will release His Spirit and grace to) perfect what is lacking in your
faith?...12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all… 13 that
He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father. (1 Thes. 3:10-13)


Pray to be worthy (prepared or made spiritually mature) to walk in the fullness of our destiny in God
11 We pray always for you that God would count you worthy of (prepare us for) this calling, and fulfill
all the good pleasure of His goodness (plans for us) and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name
of…Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God. (2 Thes. 1:11-12)
